It's a retirement community, in the middle of the desert, especially designed for seniors, with palm trees and bungalows, blue skies, red sunsets, tons of pharmacies and extra wide streets for a comfortable ride in your golf cart! In this sunny paradise, we see all the different shades of aging: as a state of excitement, fear, joy and pain.
In der Seniorenstadt Sun City in Arizona darf man sich erst niederlassen, sobald man 55 ist. Architektur, Versorgungs- und Freizeitmöglichkeiten - alles dort ist auf ältere Menschen ausgerichtet. Susan Gluths Dokumentation beobachtet Alltag und Miteinander der Stadtbewohner, und man stellt fest, dass ungewohnter Optimismus herrscht. Denn in den späten Jahren scheint es wie in der Jugend zu sein: Das meiste Vergnügen hat man mit den Gleichaltrigen.
