The village of Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region: High up on the mountain and deep within a narrow valley, shepherds guide their herds from meadow to meadow. The people here live in harmony with the natural world, with their animals and with the often unpredictable weather. But their work often requires that they go to the very limits of their physical capabilities.
