The 17-year-old David grows up in the strongly orthodox New York district of Brighton Beach. Very timidly he begins to live out his life in the East Village gay scene and gradually questions the strict rules of his community when he befriends two gay Jewish seniors living in hiding. At the same time, David's sexual awakening is not unaffected by the rise of HIV and AIDS.
